DESCRIPTION:Join us Friday\, July 15\, from 7pm – 9 pm for an evening of classical music here at the farm in Somerville\, ME with local musicians Katherine Liccardo playing violin and Matt Consul on viola/violin. \nRain date: Saturday\, July 16th at 7PM  \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					\n					\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				We’re excited to offer the opportunity for folks to come to the farm and sit out under the sky and be joined together by the experience of live music flowing over you and into you.  \nBring your own chairs and blankets and listen to classical music from composers including Mozart\, Martinu\, Leclair\, Bartok and more while watching the sun set over the beautiful hills and fields of Pumpkin Vine Family Farm in the company of our wonderful community. In order to keep this event accessible to all there is a suggested donation: $0-50. \nThe music for this special farm concert will be provided by two talented area musicians\, Katherine Liccardo and Matt Consul\, who believe in building community through music. \nKatherine and Matt. met 8 years ago at Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival in the woods of Blue Hill\, Maine. As a duo\, they have enjoyed a wide variety of performance engagements across the east coast in venues ranging from living rooms to concert halls.  \nK & M are passionate about serving communities through musical educational. While living in Washington Heights\, NY they founded For the Love of Music an interactive concert series that gives children the opportunity to experience classical music in a hands-on and engaging setting. This series will be coming to Maine this Fall!  \nWhen they’re not playing music together\, K & M enjoy being outside and snuggling with their cat\, Mr. Jack.  \n

Let your curiosity flourish! \nRebecca shares: “At In Focus Astronomy our goal is to build a mental bridge connecting the scientific discoveries of astrophysics with the natural beauty observed through our telescopes. Our methods of forming this connection make our stargazing experiences unique events that will have you begging the question: how am I related to even the most distant objects in our Universe?”  \nObservation is from 9:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.\, but we recommend arriving around 8:30 to set up your chairs or picnic blankets. \nPlease register below as attendance is capped at 25. \nWe suggest bringing the following items with you: \nCamp chair or picnic blanket to sit on in between observing \nA headlamp with a red light setting (white light or bright LED lights ruin night vision) \nClose toed shoes \nAn extra layer to keep warm \nCost: Suggested Donation of $5 for adults\, $3 for kids 6-17\, kids 5 and under free \n

We recommend you wear waterproof boots in the spring and a hat and sunscreen in the summer. DESCRIPTION:Join us on a full moon night\, Saturday\, August 13\, beginning at 7pm to experience the wonders of the universe in this extremely special offering. \nPlease note the Rain Date for this event is Saturday\, August 20. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				This event is essentially two very special offerings in one. \n7 – 8:30  pm:  Start the evening with the music of the spheres: The folk trio Stargazing will be performing live on fiddle\, mandolin and guitar on our Hay Wagon Stage. See below for video clips and full description \n9 – 11  pm:  Take a guided tour through space with astronomer Rebecca Spitz and her state of the art observational telescope! See below for more information \nVisitors can enjoy one or both the offerings.  \nAdmission is by donation\, as we want all to be able to enjoy within their means.  \nReservations are required for the astronomy portion\, as attendance is capped at 30 so that everyone gets a chance at the telescope. \nPlease scroll down to make your reservation \nDon’t worry if you don’t get a spot this time! Rebecca just moved to this area and will be offering Star Parties throughout the year at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm. Even if you miss\, you’ll land amongst the stars.” For musicians Katherine Liccardo\, her husband Matt Consul\, and Chris Montmeny\, the allure of coaxing beautiful and mysterious sounds from wire and wood is an all- encompassing passion.  \nNew to Maine\, all three have followed their own stars here\, having spent years honing their craft\, and have serendipitously discovered in each other the same passion. Blending unique arrangements of folk tunes with original songwriting reminiscent of Nickel Creek\, Windham Hill\, Andrew Peterson\, Punch Brothers\, Martin Hayes\, and Kittel & Co.\, at once familiar and yet strikingly new\, Stargazing infuses each piece with a deeply personal touch.  \nCome\, listen in as the voices of violin\, mandolin and guitar join to create something magical; come to hear Stargazing. \n  \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				In Focus Astronomy 9 – 11pm\nLocal astronomer Rebecca Spitz\, of In Focus Astronomy\, has generously offered to share her phenomenal expertise and her state of the at telescope with us again! Unlike the last star party Rebecca helped us hold here at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm last month\, this event is a LUNAR Star Party. \nOn the evening of August 13th the moon is going to be mostly full; which will make it an excellent object to observe in great detail with the telescope. Deep space objects like galaxies and clusters will still be observable\, as well as planets and stars\, they just won’t be as bright as on our Dark Sky nights. \nPlease register below if you’d like to join us. As mentioned previously we do need to cap this part of the event at 30 people. But rest assured Rebecca and Pumpkin Vine Family Farm will hold more of these fun and educational events.

Check out our other upcoming events this summer! \n——————————————————– \nJoin us from 9pm – 11pm here at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm for a Lunar Viewing Party!  \nLocal astronomer Rebecca Spitz\, of In Focus Astronomy\, has offered up her expertise and her telescope for an up close view of the moon!  \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Because the light from a bright Moon washes out the Milky Way and some of the fainter deep space objects\, the Lunar Experience focuses on the amazing features on the surface of the Moon. We will show you craters in detail you never thought imaginable!  \nObservation is from 9:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.\, but we recommend arriving around 8:30 to set up your chairs or picnic blankets. \nPlease register below as attendance is capped at 25. \nWe suggest bringing the following items with you: \nCamp chair or picnic blanket to sit on in between observing \nA headlamp with a red light setting (white light or bright LED lights ruin night vision) \nClose toed shoes \nAn extra layer to keep warm \nCost \nThere is no charge for this event. Donations are encouraged. $15 for adults\, $5 for kids 5 and up. \nA Note About Weather \nIn Focus Astronomy recognizes that inclement weather may arrive at any time without warning. We require clear skies to provide the best stargazing experience possible. If In Focus Astronomy is certain the weather will interfere with stargazing\, we will reschedule the event from Friday to Saturday. If the weather interferes with stargazing on Saturday\, the event is canceled. DESCRIPTION:Join us from 9:30 – 11:30 pm here at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm for some Deep Space Astronomy!  \nLocal astronomer Rebecca Spitz\, of In Focus Astronomy\, has offered up her expertise and her telescope for a guided tour of the universe!  \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Using her state-of-the-art massive 14” Newtonian Reflector ​observational telescope on a dark sky night\, Rebecca will take you on a comprehensive tour of the night sky. You will leave the experience with a deeper understanding of how every object in the Universe is intimately connected… including yourself. Let your curiosity flourish! \nRebecca shares: “At In Focus Astronomy our goal is to build a mental bridge connecting the scientific discoveries of astrophysics with the natural beauty observed through our telescopes. Our methods of forming this connection make our stargazing experiences unique events that will have you begging the question: how am I related to even the most distant objects in our Universe?”  \nObservation is from 9:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.\, but we recommend arriving around 9:00p.m. to set up your chairs or picnic blankets. \nPlease register below as attendance is capped at 25. \nWe suggest bringing the following items with you: \nCamp chair or picnic blanket to sit on in between observing \nA headlamp with a red light setting (white light or bright LED lights ruin night vision) \nClose toed shoes \nAn extra layer to keep warm \nCost:  \nThere is no charge for this event. Donations are encouraged. $15 for adults\, $5 for kids 5 and up. \nA Note About Weather: \n\n \n\nIn Focus Astronomy recognizes that inclement weather may arrive at any time without warning. We require clear skies to provide the best stargazing experience possible. If In Focus Astronomy is certain the weather will interfere with stargazing\, we will reschedule the event from Friday to Saturday. If the weather interferes with stargazing on Saturday\, the event is canceled. In the event Friday and Saturday both have a 50/50 chance of being clear\, In Focus Astronomy will run the program as scheduled on Friday. We recommend you wear waterproof boots in the spring and a hat and sunscreen in the summer. A water bottle and bug spray are always a good idea\, and be sure to check for ticks afterward. \nOur safety waiver is now available online — by registering for a hike\, you agree to the waiver for yourself and all members of your party\, including any minors in your party. Be transported by the beauty and wonder of music and astronomy in an evening you’ll never forget.  \n“The universe sings a deep\, eternal song\, sound in waves\, in deep sighs\, in whispers\, in swirling chords and rising\, falling tones. The music of the worlds\, weaving in a pattern that is both chaos and order\, both beauty and terror\, without beginning\, without end. – Jessica Khoury \nBring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and find your perfect place on our special event lawn. Enjoy the beauty of the sky as the sun slides into darkness over the hills and the dark skies bloom.  \nThe evening starts at 7pm with live music performed by Katherine Liccardo on fiddle and Matt Consul on mandolin/fiddle. Other musical guests to be announced!  We will take you on a musical journey of traditional celtic fiddle music and original tunes inspired by nature. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Gather around a small campfire from 8:30 – 9:30 for the Smoky Social Hour\, to meet your neighbors in a mosquito-safe zone : ) We’ll provide marshmallows and twigs\, or you can bring your own snacks. Storytelling encouraged! \nDeep Sky observations start at 9:30. Using a massive 14” Newtonian Reflector Telescope\, Rebecca will take you on a comprehensive tour of the night sky.
