SUMMARY:Goat Hikes Session 3
DESCRIPTION:Goat Hikes\nSchedule a hike with the friendly goats at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm!\nFor a full description and video of our goat hikes\, click here. \nWe’re committed to sharing the farm with everyone\, so there is no charge for the hike\, however\, if you are able\, there is a recommended donation of $5/person or $20/family\, Donations support trail maintenance along with the training and care of the trail goats. You can make your donation at the farm on the day of your hike. Just look for the donation jar at the main table. \nWe limit the number of hikers to 10 per session\, so that everyone can have a chance to interact with the goats. If your party is more than 10 people\, please find a session that is fully open. Then\, complete the registration form below and show that you’re bringing 10 guests. This will reserve your spot. You’ll then need to email us at info@pumpkinvinefamilyfarm.com to let us know the total number in your party and we’ll try to accommodate you. \nIf you need to cancel\, please let us know by 9 am on the morning of your hike. You can text or call Kelly at (207) 549-3096. \nPrepare For Your Hike:\nWe recommend getting to the farm a half an hour early\, so you can visit the baby goats in the barn and shop at the farmers market\, which offers some great snacks for the hike (think smoothies and cheese sticks!) \nSafe = Fun! \nOur goats have been hand reared from birth and are fully a member of their human herd. They love people but do not always realize where their horn tips are\, so adults need to supervise children’s interactions with them. Children younger than 4 must be able to be carried if the situation warrants. \nBe prepared for a Maine outdoor activity\, so you can make the most of your time with our goats. We recommend you wear waterproof boots in the spring and a hat and sunscreen in the summer. A water bottle and bug spray are always a good idea\, and be sure to check for ticks afterward. \nOur safety waiver is now available online — by registering for a hike\, you agree to the waiver for yourself and all members of your party\, including any minors in your party. We ask that you share the link to the waiver with everyone accompanying you to the farm. \nIf it rains or is over 90\, we usually cancel or reschedule hikes to avoid stressing the animals (and the people!). \nTo reserve your spot for the hike please click on the  “register” button below and complete the registration form that appears. Be sure to let us know how many there will be in your party to help us with accurate registration numbers.  Thanks so much for your help. \nWe look forward to seeing you at the farm!

SUMMARY:Stargazing Extravaganza: Music and Mysteries of the Universe Raindate August 20
DESCRIPTION:Join us on a full moon night\, Saturday\, August 13\, beginning at 7pm to experience the wonders of the universe in this extremely special offering. \nPlease note the Rain Date for this event is Saturday\, August 20. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This event is essentially two very special offerings in one. \n7 – 8:30  pm:  Start the evening with the music of the spheres: The folk trio Stargazing will be performing live on fiddle\, mandolin and guitar on our Hay Wagon Stage. See below for video clips and full description \n9 – 11  pm:  Take a guided tour through space with astronomer Rebecca Spitz and her state of the art observational telescope! See below for more information \nVisitors can enjoy one or both the offerings. \nAdmission is by donation\, as we want all to be able to enjoy within their means. \nReservations are required for the astronomy portion\, as attendance is capped at 30 so that everyone gets a chance at the telescope. \nPlease scroll down to make your reservation \nDon’t worry if you don’t get a spot this time! Rebecca just moved to this area and will be offering Star Parties throughout the year at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm. You can still come introduce yourself during the concert and tell her your space dreams… anyone up for January? \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Stargazing Folk Trio 7-8:30pm\n“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss\, you’ll land amongst the stars.” For musicians Katherine Liccardo\, her husband Matt Consul\, and Chris Montmeny\, the allure of coaxing beautiful and mysterious sounds from wire and wood is an all- encompassing passion. \nNew to Maine\, all three have followed their own stars here\, having spent years honing their craft\, and have serendipitously discovered in each other the same passion. Blending unique arrangements of folk tunes with original songwriting reminiscent of Nickel Creek\, Windham Hill\, Andrew Peterson\, Punch Brothers\, Martin Hayes\, and Kittel & Co.\, at once familiar and yet strikingly new\, Stargazing infuses each piece with a deeply personal touch. \nCome\, listen in as the voices of violin\, mandolin and guitar join to create something magical; come to hear Stargazing. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n In Focus Astronomy 9 – 11pm\nLocal astronomer Rebecca Spitz\, of In Focus Astronomy\, has generously offered to share her phenomenal expertise and her state of the at telescope with us again! Unlike the last star party Rebecca helped us hold here at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm last month\, this event is a LUNAR Star Party. \nOn the evening of August 13th the moon is going to be mostly full; which will make it an excellent object to observe in great detail with the telescope. Deep space objects like galaxies and clusters will still be observable\, as well as planets and stars\, they just won’t be as bright as on our Dark Sky nights. \nPlease register below if you’d like to join us. As mentioned previously we do need to cap this part of the event at 30 people. But rest assured Rebecca and Pumpkin Vine Family Farm will hold more of these fun and educational events.
