Butterfly was the goat that was supposed to set new records for our herd, until she came into milk a month early and got a bad case of mastitis as a three year old. She still milked over 11 pounds on one good half, so we will work with her to see if she can recover next year. 

Combining the best of Chateau Briant’s extremely milky B-line with Tempo’s correctness, Butterfly easily scored a 91 in her first appraisal. She was the milkiest 1 year old we’d ever had: she milked almost 10 lbs at just over a year, and almost 2 gallons as a 2 year old. With all that potential, we’ll keep her as a brood doe whether or not her udder recovers. We used her son Viceroy on some of our young does, and his daughters have performed well with his signature round high udder. We’re keeping our fingers crossed she’ll be flying high again soon!
