Calista has so much promise that we are working with her to get over a rough year. As a 1 year old, she out performed any other first freshening Nubian we’ve owned, milking almost a gallon in her second month of production. She freshened her second year with an impressive udder that produced lots of colostrum, but she then fell ill and has spent her energy this year healing instead of producing milk. We are happy to report that she had recovered by the fall, and was in good enough shape to earn an 86 very good on her first linear appraisal, as a two year old. We are hoping she will continue to improve, combining the structural correctness of her grandmother with the milkiness of her Mystique lineage.
